My dad: He said that principle one was the hardest because it is hard not to criticize someone when they are making decisions that you don’t like, which is very understandable. - Phineas

Hi everyone! I asked my Grandmother about what principle was hardest for her, she said that the third was probably the most difficult for her because it is so easy to say to yourself "I don't want to do this, how do I make somebody else do it for me, etc." instead of doing it for the betterment of both parties -Naomi C

I asked my mother about what the hardest principle was for her; she responded that the third appeared to be the most difficult. Her reasoning for such a statement was that (and I kid you not) she had never heard of "Arousing in others an eager want" and never thought of it as important.

I asked my mom, and she said number one because its easier to be negative than positive.

That's a good point!

In my opinion, one of the biggest points made in the video was him talking about the importance of characterological development. I agree that it is a vital ability that leaders should possess! I sent this video to my older sister ❤️ -Lillian C.

The biggest point of the video for me was the part where he said a few righteous people in a city of thousands who are not righteous can turn the tide, and it’s the same with leadership, if you have just a few leaders in a building they can influence and change the people around them if they do the work and effort. And I sent the YouTube link to my Grandmother. - Phineas

I think that one of the biggest points was saying that there can be several types of leaders, but to be a great leader you have to follow a few things like, knowing where you are going and to tell the truth (I did not send the link to anyone) -Naomi C :)

It seems to be a common point, but the biggest point of the video for me was just how important developing character is for leadership (and beyond!). Unfortunately, I did not send the link to anyone.
-Emma

The main point I noticed is that, leadership looks different for everyone, but honorable leaders can make a big difference.

Presupposition: A thing tactically assumed before the beginning of a argument or course of action.
Conscientiousness: The quality of wanting to do work thoroughly and well.
-Phineas

One of the definitions I wrote, was conscientiousness. I know the basic meaning of the word, but I wanted to dig a little deeper. Conscientiousness: the quality of wishing to do one's work or duty well and thoroughly.
There you have it! -Lillian C.

I chose two definitions from the video: charlatan and casual moralizing. Like Lillian C., I knew the gist of "Charlatan," but I wanted to dig a bit deeper. "Charlatan" refers to a person who is a fraud, typically claiming to possess special knowledge or skills. My second definition is "Casual Moralizing"; it struck me as interesting, so I wanted to pursue it further. "Casual Moralizing" refers to the act of offering moral judgments in a way that is perceived as preachy or condescending.

GREAT JOB!

Nice! It's always good to clarify - I often thought I understood a word from context, and then while I was in college, I began looking words up and that built my vocabulary immensely, since I would see the word below it and above it. I STILL use a paper dictionary. It's SO satisfying! Did you use an online dictionary or a paper dictionary? I wonder if many houses still have a paper one!

Mom: A book that has been impactful in her life is called The Emmanuel Journaling Journey.
It helped her to see that journaling wasn’t talking at God, it was talking with God.
Dad: A book that has been impactful in my dads life is The Lords of discipline, he said it was impactful because it taught about brotherhood, and he said that the advice that they gave him was beneficial in life.
Me: A book that has been impactful in my life is called Pedro’s journal, because it shows the life of a boy sailing to America with Columbus, and all the hardships and plagues they endure and it’s just a reminder not to take all our medicine and ships and communication with people overseas for granted. - Phineas

my response: an impactful book for me would be Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. I love the relationships that are portrayed throughout the book! I am also able to see the similarity of the relationships between me and my sisters and brother.

moms response: an impactful book for her was also Little Women! It gave her a mental image of a loving family that she had longed for. She also thinks that Little Women was strongly prophetic for her! ( she has four girls and one boy. See the similarity?!?!)

dads response: for him, an impactful book was Season of Life by Jeffrey Marx. He likes it because it's all about trying to lead people!
-Lillian C.

My Mum said that one book that has been encouraging in her life is "The Lord of the Rings" because it shows you just how important friendship is and that maybe you doing one small thing might help win the battle
My Dad said that one book that had been encouraging in his life is "A Separate Peace" because he works at a boarding school and it has helped him understand a small portion of what the students are going through
One book that has really been eye-opening in my own life is "The Wingfeather Saga" because, first of all, it's just plain awesome! And second, it reminds me of how important my family is. -Naomi C

Hi Mrs. Gose,
A book (or more accurately, a book series) that has impacted my life in a positive fashion is the book series, Redwall. Although the book may seem childish at first, it presents wonderful storytelling and good morals suitable for all ages to read and learn from. Especially if the person reads this series from a young age, the series gives the reader access to many new and smart-sounding verbs that, if learned, make one sound extremely fancy (I still surprise my mom today by spouting words I learned ten years ago!)
Mom: A book that has impacted her is "Family Driven Faith by Vodie Bauhm." This book cemented things she had thought about for a very long time and illustrated the importance of being the primary religious instructor in her kids' lives (and in homeschooling in general).
-Emma

The book that has most impacted me is Percy Jackson because it told me that being different is okay.
My mom's most impactful book, is Read Aloud Family by Sarah Mackenzie because it helped her base our family culture around books.

You're doing great!

Thank you, Phineas! It's an honor to be a part of your educational journey. You add so much to the class discussions. Keep up the great work!
